campanella: (silent smirk)
[personal profile] campanella
Anything unique that Campanella gains in this game of some significance will go here!

Extended Strengths and Weaknesses in regards to Campanella

Physical: (Majority of this section will refer to his abilities in combat) The most obvious physical strength Campanella has is quite obvious just by looking at him: He has the body of a child and sounds like one as well. His voice is prepubescent and has an innocent ring to it. This might be enough to gain a minute's worth of sympathy for some who might have a soft spot for children. He has a tendency towards juice boxes as evidenced in certain artbook images. With that comes an air of confidence that most would find in an adult. Though he may be stuck in the body he is in, it does not appear to bother him in the slightest. He seems to revel in it and use it as he sees fit. Whether or not he has a grown body does not take away from the fact that he is a creepy person all around and he does not intend on hiding that away for any reason whatsoever. His childlike visage is enough to get to anybody, even if that means disturbing said person.

One attack he absolutely loves to use is more of a defensive one in the aspect of how it is set up. It is called Permutation. He casts a spell that places a bubble of some sort around him that causes a wavy effect over his image. When others see him, it is almost as if it is simply an image and not a completely tangible being there. It allows him to counter his opponent by replacing them with another one of their teammates to take the blow for him.

He is what one would refer to as a clown if anything else. A lot of what he does on the outside is subtle and much is not heard about unless it is in a report or what is alluded to in terms of his skill and what task he was given to accomplish. He dresses like a clown and acts as such. In the games, he is the host of a quiz show that focuses on facts from the game where he shows up in multiple outfits. He will definitely be changing it up every now and then in Luceti just for the hell of it.

He will always be a figurative troll even in what he is able to do. He often does not float even though he has the capacity for doing so, though likely he will make sure to do a lot of that in Luceti, and teleports around unnecessarily while casting some rather unusual spells, one of them coming from a later game in which he transforms his enemies into green peppers with arms and legs. This sort of spell is not permanent and can be removed with the right item, or likely enough over time, and is more of a nuisance than anything else. Though he is obviously powerful with an unusual set of skills, the magic he uses is normally appearing not to be serious,in some cases, but is capable of doing great harm. He is capable of turning an attack around on the other person that might be attempting to injure him, instead placing another in place of the blow meant for him which leaves him free to figure out another way of attacking.

Among his more unique of talents, at least as unique as the rest of Ouroboros, he is able to create golems of others around him. They are an exact replica on the outside but are nothing more than sand, parts, and clothing. He also can make them explode as he sees fit at any moment. While this might be a minor hindrance for some, he was able to traumatize a member of the main party when he had a guard explode right in the woman's face. He does not bat an eyelash. The possibilities of what he will be able to do are endless. He could easily deceive another person by creating a likeness of their friends and using that against them or simply as a means of being simply unsettling which he has always found his forte in.

He can not only teleport himself, but others as well to different places. He is capable of casting status effects of some kind, or in some cases enhancing another's attack to allow for status effects. He has very high resistance to status effects himself. When he changes others into peppers, their defenses can be lowered in this state and it leaves the other person without the ability to do anything but perform a normal attack without anything special behind it such as magic until it wears off. This attack is referred to as True Mirror, probably in reference to the large mirror that appears in front of the opponent before they are transformed into peppers.

He is a very adept fire user and, as an example, has a rather nasty attack referred to as Flare Butterfly where several butterflies made of fire flutter around the targets then explode, causing a massive amount of damage as they are bathed in fire. Besides fire, his main attack is called Imitation: Stake of Salt where he calls out a very large sliver of salt and sends it crashing towards the ground where it embeds itself next to his targets. Salt engulfs them and basically shatters at the snap of his fingers. It does a significant amount of damage if one does not have the ability to protect against it.

Mental: It is hard enough attempting to figure out what is going on in Campanella's head but he seems to thrive on the cryptic nature of it. The unpredictable nature of what he may be thinking of leaves him quite wide open to manipulate those he encounters without trouble. Even he may be unaware of just how unpredictable he can be. It does not matter who he is speaking with as his ultimate motive was not even discovered until the place where he is being pulled from in his canon. Whatever he is considering is kept rather tightly inside of his own head. Even if one was to call him on something he said, he could just as easily turn it around on the other person and act as if he had no such thoughts and that things have changed.

His intelligence would be obvious in his manner of deceiving. From all that is seen and known of him, he has been recruiting people and pushing others in the direction of whatever plan he might have or to the one he serves in terms of his own world. Somebody like that who is able to convince people to join an organization so seamlessly must be quite smart. He would be able to adjust his level of manipulation depending on what he knew of the person before using it against said person or those who might know them. In this way he is able to push them in the direction he intends to take them in whether it might end poorly for his intended targets or not. The fact that he will not have a leader to report to in Luceti will leave him open to create his own goals and his own games utilizing information he finds on those he finds the most entertaining.

Emotional: Campanella does not seem to have the ability to experience an emotional response other than slight annoyance at not accomplishing exactly what he wanted and amusement. If he has the ability to be angry, it is not thoroughly shown even in the series itself. He has the emotional range of a young boy that dropped his ice cream and has to buy himself another one with a touch of somebody that is far too old for their appearance. This could range from a botched drink to decapitating the wrong person (though he has not done this but it would be easy not to put this past him...). Everything holds an air of being not too difficult to bear no matter what it is. Without the ability to connect emotionally with what he is doing, it is near, if not completely, impossible to use somebody or something against him in a manner that would truly do him harm on an emotional level. He would simply find another toy and continue on with the next plan.

Though he would have no true emotional connection with another, at least not obvious and certainly not as intimate as others would be, if he finds a person useful then he would likely step into a battle of some kind as an ally. Whether or not that would be beneficial in the long run....would depend on who it is.

------------

Physical: Though it is also a strength, having the body of a child would be a detriment in its own right. As he does not intend on masquerading as a young boy, at least not in all seriousness, he brings with him the feeling of nausea and those around him would feel uneasy. His tendency towards clothing that does not provoke thoughts of power could limit what others think of him. Taking him seriously, for some, would or might be nigh impossible. Though this could be used as an advantage in terms of catching another off-guard, it also leaves him forever in the visage of a young boy dressed as a clown.

As he has no weapons to speak of besides his own magical skills, it can be concluded that hand-to-hand combat in not his forte. This means that he will be a long range fighter unless he happens to be using a golem to do the close range battles for him but, even then, the golem will not be an exact replica of the being he is copying in terms of their true skill. Though it can be said that he is at least able to endure a pretty brutal battle, he still does not display any common knowledge of how to use a weapon such as a sword.

In terms of hand-to-hand combat, it would be very safe to say that he does not use it. He has no apparent knowledge of a hand-held weapon unless it happens to be in the hand of his puppet and, even then, he still has to be the one controlling that puppet. Whether or not he is adept at any of these would be obvious. He is very strong otherwise in magic but physically he would have no choice but to dodge/teleport and figure out what to do from a long range point with his magic and illusion skills. Being in close quarters with a person adept at weapons would have him on the defensive. This would be evidenced by the responses he makes during the battle in a later game in the series where he responds to close encounters by acknowledging that he did not expect the person or persons involved to have survived his assault. In terms of battle, presenting the disadvantage of being in close quarters may best serve his enemies.

Mental: His automatic internal ability to not experience anything beyond a one track mind of fulfillment in most cases could ultimately lead to a frequent encounter with the same person he was messing with to always expect nothing but the worst from him. In the long run, this nature will leave him unable to participate in much that does not involve the possibility of another wishing to do nothing but keep him out of the game for good.

Without a leader to direct him, he will be free to do as he pleases. His awareness and sometimes lack there of will leave him constantly deceiving those around him to serve whatever inane purpose he might have. This might work in time if he chooses to side with another but it will more than likely end up harming the person that bothered to place any sort of trust in him. As every word carries a hidden intent, others will find him far too deceptive to keep around and an overall nuisance. Should he have nothing but the 'best' for the other person, the trust he might have gained otherwise may backfire when said person recalls all of the suffering he caused another and earn him nothing. The only cast that will not be as malicious trolled would likely be from his own...a bit.

Emotional: Overconfidence, or a pretentious nature, can be a double-edged sword. Where he may be under the assumption he has the upper hand, he could very well being whittled away at and will express himself by saying that the other person is tougher than he thought and simply teleporting or floating to another section of the location he happens to be fighting in. He does not appear to convey anything during a battle or otherwise unless it is that overconfidence and a constant desire to play with the other person. His seriousness over a subject is constantly masqueraded as a game to him and thus any manner of intimidation he might intend on making might seem a bit exaggerated.

He does not appear to have a particularly high emotional bond with anybody that would make or break what he did beyond the part where he finds somebody useful enough. Though, again, it might be possible for him to make am emotional connection on some level, his personality may leave most unable to connect with him in any other way beyond disliking his presence. When he speaks, it is usually saturated in contentment and something that feels awfully forced if he is expressing happiness...unless he is actually happy to meet you because he is. It just usually does not come with anything good for the person he is expressing it to if he intends to troll that target.

~Amusement Park: Michelam Wonderland, complete with ferris wheel, roller coaster, minigames galore and its mascot character Michey. Some of the developments outside the park proper are visited in Zero while the park itself becomes open to the player in Ao.
(Amusement Park of Doom): Briefly becomes this when Campanella uses his powers to change Michelam Wonderland into Fool's Wonderland, complete with creepy clown imagery and ghost monsters. It's all an illusion. Becomes this again when the Pleroma Flowers start blooming among its grounds.(reference from Zero no Kiseki tropes)

~Before that, we have Tio defeating Campanella, in A FREAKING TETRIS GAME. (Zero no Kiseki reference from when Campanella plays a little game with people involving fire)

~Death Trap and Deadly Game: Campanella lures the SSS to Jona's Hacker Cave, locks them inside with a large amount of explosives and tells them he'll unlock the door if you can beat him at Pomtto in a best out of three match. He's a good enough sport to not only allow you to substitute a player but to actually let you out after he gets his ass handed to him.(see previous blurb and video)

~Hacker Cave: Jona has a nice setup in the Geofront. The floor is, naturally, strewn with empty food and drink containers. Apparently Crossbell's pizza delivery boys are really brave because they do deliver down there. It gets cleaned up by Campanella in Ao. With fire.(also see above 2 comments)

~Breaking the Fourth Wall: In one of the Star Door subquests in The Third, we see a meeting of Ouroboros leaders and their conversation regarding the events in Liberl and revealing that this is all just the beginning. After the meeting, Campanella laughs, before saying...
Campanella: By the way...I know I'm not one to talk, but...*looks at the player* I don't know who you are but can you please stop peeping?(reference from Trails in the Sky/Sora no Kiseki the 3rd...he will not be breaking the 4th wall in the game, but this is included for character purposes)

~Taken for Granite: Kind of. Weissmann was shot with a Salt Bolt that effectively worked like this, except transforming him to salt instead of stone. On his way out after retrieving some 'lost property' Campanella stopped to to break Weissmann's now-petrified body into pieces.(Trails in the Sky/Sora no Kiseki Second Chapter reference)
